So This week's guest is none other than DJ RECLUSE - This man knows how to mix - trust me. I found him through another past guest on the EL EXILIO, Datrus. Not one to stick to any specific genre he cuts it up fine with D&B as well as techno. I am sure he is going to rustle up something special for us so tune in this Sunday Night to fnoob techno 11pm - 1am GMT 8th August 2010. Not my usual style I know but I have let the man himself do a little bio (obviously better written than mine!)
"The opening scenes of DJ Recluse's Bio pic would be archetypal: a 13 year old schoolboy battling through the rain on his paper-round to earn enough money to then cycle the 20miles to a record store where he would judiciously select just two of their finest obscure white labels, then returning home to play them in endless rotation. It's a totally authentic image. Since the first waves of rave culture broke on southern England, DJ Reculse was hooked; soaking up the underground sounds of NJoi, Future Sound Of London, Joey Beltram et al he soon gained an encyclopedic knowledge of the sub-culture that was still elusive and hidden in a way that's difficult to portray today. He developed an early preference for the rougher hardcore and breakbeat sounds that were found on the myriad of budget tapes back then from luminary enterprises such as Fantazia, Universe and Obsession.
A few years on, and a trepidous initial outing found him at Paul Edge's renowned techno night 'The Outer Limts' in nearby Bournemouth where he stood agog amid screaming crowds and several thousand watts of Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke and the Advent. Those massive floor-filling sounds reignited his passion for techno, and spurred on the 4/4 side of his production; Recluse's fanatic ear for the nuances of hardcore translated effortlessly into a detailed and subtle output of his own. He has an innate talent to capture the very essence of a style, be it drum and bass, house, hardcore or techno, and can construct a rhythmic and melodic basis for a track with a natural ease that few others can ever aspire to, exploring the boundaries of beats and breaks with a steady hand and eye, penning epic sinister journeys into warped hypnogogic canyons of sound like some mythological psychonaut, Recluse's sound is pacey and bass-heavy and its ancestry in the halcion days of the illegal parties of 1991 is always apparent. In the spirit of that time, when there were no media-driven buzz-words, when one could enjoy a huge range of styles with one common underground vibe, Recluse's ear for the shadows and his talents for understated persussive finesse bring the historic vision of the unifying power of music that little bit closer again.
